?We are very proud to be officially involved with the fifth annual Tribeca Film Festival, which continues to showcase some of the world?s most important filmmaking right in our own backyard,? said Rob DeMartin, PostWorks? chief operating officer and company co-owner.  ?It?s a great opportunity to support the filmmakers while also supporting the neighborhood.?

Among the festival?s many official selections from PostWorks? clients, on May 3, the documentary feature ?Once In a Lifetime? from directors Paul Crowder and John Dower will have its North American Premiere in the Festival?s Spotlight category.  For this project, PostWorks? online editor Ben Murray mastered original HD footage and SD archival footage using the Avid DS Nitris system, with PostWorks? Benny Mouthon handling sound design and the final mix.  The finished project was recorded to 35mm via Arri Laser.

?Word.Life? (aka ?The Hip Hop Project?), the documentary feature from directors Matt Ruskin and Scott Rosenberg, will have its World Premiere tonight.  Appearing in the Festival?s Discovery category, the project?s source footage was captured on Super 16mm, and the film was finished using a 2K Digital Intermediate (DI) workflow at PostWorks, featuring Pogle color-correction by John Crowley and a final conform on the Quantel iQ by George Bunce.

Tomorrow, director Eric Steel?s documentary feature ?The Bridge? will have its World Premiere in the Festival?s International Documentary Competition.  PostWorks? Mike Nuget conformed the project in HD on Avid?s DS Nitris, colorist Scot Olive handled color-correction via Pogle and Jeff Huston recorded the final master to 35mm using the Arri Laser.

Fay Ann Lee?s narrative feature ?East Broadway? had its World Premiere last night.  Shot on 35mm film, the project used an HD DI workflow, involving Spirit 2K and tape-to-tape Pogle color-correction by PostWorks? colorist John Crowley, as well as final conform, titling and subtitling on the Avid DS Nitris by Postworks? online editor Pat Kelleher.

The World Premiere for director Peter Cohn?s ?Golden Venture? also took place last night, as a NY, NY Documentary Feature.  Captured on miniDV, this project was conformed and color-corrected on the Avid Symphony by PostWorks? editor Travis Antolik, with sound design and final mix again performed by Benny Mouthon.  The short narrative film ?Shiner? from Mike Doyle will have its World Premiere on Apr. 30 in the Festival?s NY, NY West Side Highway shorts program.  Filmed on Super 16mm, the post workflow involved transfer to HDCam, online conforming on the DS Nitris by Mike Nuget and tape-to-tape color-correction in daVinci by Bobbie Thomas.

Finally, PostWorks, The Lab handled film processing for Ishai Setton?s debut feature ?The Big Bad Swim,? which had its World Premiere last evening in the Festival?s Discovery program.  PostWorks? colorist Jake Caffera also handled dailies for the project.

Last year, PostWorks provided key support for official Tribeca Film Festival selections ?Red Doors? (Winner, Made in New York Best Narrative Feature), ?Rikers High? (Winner, New York Loves Film Best Documentary Feature), ?Fierce People,? ?Gay Sex in the 70s,? ?Life on the Ledge,? and ?Mad Hot Ballroom.?

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
